Jordy van der Beek is an entomologist researching the diversity and ecology of blood-sucking invertebrates, with a primary focus on mosquitoes and a keen interest in the Caribbean region. Collaborating with local vector control units and natural parks, he has been involved in various projects resulting in inventories of mosquitoes and other vectors across all six islands of the Dutch Caribbean. These projects also encompass research into genetic diversity and distribution patterns. Currently, Jordy is wrapping up his PhD funded by the Pandemic and Disaster Preparedness Center, where he studies the effects of salinization on native mosquitoes on the Dutch mainland.
