Iris Keizer
Climate Scientist at Koninklijk Nederlands Meteorologisch Instituut (KNMI)
Iris Keizer is a climate scientist at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) who specializes in climate scenarios for Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba, as well as climate change dynamics in the wider Caribbean region. She contributed to the KNMI’23 Climate Scenarios for the Netherlands, which included climate projections for Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba.
In 2025, she worked with the International Panel on Deltas and Coastal Areas (IPDC) and the meteorological services of Aruba (DMA), Curaçao (MDC), and Sint Maarten (MDS) to develop climate scenarios tailored to each island.
As part of the PARATUS project, she and her KNMI colleagues developed climate, seismology, and extreme weather information for Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba. This information supports a multi-hazard approach to disaster risk management. Her work focuses on creating climate change information that supports Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems, climate adaptation, and disaster risk management.
